A team of marine biologists from the Australian Institute of Marine Science has discovered a previously uncharted deep-water reef system stretching over 60 kilometres off the coast of Western Australia. The ecosystem, found at depths between 80 and 150 metres, hosts dozens of species not previously recorded in the region.
Lead scientist Dr. Emma Forsythe described the discovery as extraordinary. "This reef is teeming with life. We found new species of soft coral, fish, and crustaceans that we've never documented in Australian waters before," she said.
