Alan Tudge, a member of the federal parliament from Victoria, is anticipated to resign.
It’s anticipated that the former minister of education will retire, perhaps as soon as today.
Tudge, a Liberal who represents the Aston district in eastern Melbourne, narrowly kept his seat in the May election.
Tudge last week came under fire for his prior position as minister of human services in a royal commission looking into the robodebt program.
Before the most recent federal election, he resigned from the cabinet over claims made by a former staff member, Rachelle Miller, that he had been verbally and once physically violent during a consensual relationship.
Tudge has refuted the charges.
As a result of Tudge’s resignation from office, Josh Frydenberg, the former treasurer who lost the Kooyong seat to the independent Monique Ryan last year, may now seek reelection.
