Latrell Mitchell of the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Jack Wighton of the Canberra Raiders were both taken into custody early on Sunday morning in Canberra following an altercation between the two at a nightclub.
Just before 4am, ACT police were summoned to a Bunda Street house because to complaints of a disturbance.
Along with a number of other offenses, Wighton and Mitchell are both accused of fighting in public.
Before heading back to the NRL All Stars camp in Sydney, they were reportedly out celebrating Wighton’s 30th birthday. They are also said to have been fighting in Canberra’s central business district.
According to a police statement provided to Fairfax, “ACT Policing responded to allegations of a disturbance near a nightclub on Bunda Street in the city at about 3.45am tonight.”
Two men, ages 25 and 30, from Chifley, NSW, and Bywong, NSW, respectively, were detained at the site.
The 25-year-old has been charged with fight in a public place, affray, and resisting a territorial public officer, while the 30-year-old has been charged with failing to comply with an exclusion order and fighting in a public place. They are anticipated to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court later.
All three teams have issued statements, with the NRL confirming that the report has been forwarded to the NRL Integrity Unit.
