A unit building in Brisbane’s north caught fire, killing a 55-year-old man. At around 5 this morning, emergency personnel were called to the site in Clayfield. The 15 patients being attended to by paramedics include two who are in critical condition.
One guy was killed and three other people were sent to the hospital as a result of a horrific fire that destroyed an apartment building in Brisbane’s north.
At 5.30am on Monday, fifteen fire and rescue services responded to an apartment building at Bonney Ave in Clayfield, north of the center of Brisbane city.
On-site, a 55-year-old guy passed away.
Paramedics treated smoke inhalation in 13 more patients, many of whom were elderly.
Later, three patients in stable conditions were transported: two to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and one to the Prince Charles Hospital.
All employees and building occupants were confirmed to be present, according to a spokeswoman for Queensland Fire and Emergency.
Before it was totally put out two hours later, it was evident that the building’s roof was where the fire and smoke were coming from.
Residents were originally asked to shut their windows and doors, and drivers were admonished to drive carefully and steer clear of the area if at all possible.
Investigations were still going on since it was unclear what started the fire.
