The Moscow region was the site of a training exercise for fending off air strikes, according to the Russian Defense Ministry on Saturday.
The anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Western Military District trained in the Moscow area, according to a statement from the ministry, on how to fend off air strikes on significant military industrial and administrative sites.
As part of the training, an S-300 anti-aircraft missile system was reportedly used to simulate conflict.
A pretend enemy sabotage force attempted to destroy a military convoy while soldiers marched, according to the statement.
The air defense convoy was able to escape the attack and carry out its duties under the cover of a smoke screen.
150 soldiers, according to the ministry, participated in the training.
However, it did not specify where the training took place inside the Moscow region, which is located around the Russian capital.
The Kremlin declined on Friday to confirm whether or not the government was ready for attacks on the capital.
Russia has endured a number of drone assaults, some of which have been ascribed to Kiev, as well as several strikes on border regions since beginning its offensive in Ukraine almost a year ago.
