Her husband called the woman who was killed in an alleged home invasion north of Brisbane a “lovely person.”
Emma Lovell, 41, died on Boxing Day after being stabbed in the chest at her home in North Lakes. Two teenagers have been charged with her murder.
Late on Tuesday, Queensland police said that two 17-year-olds had been charged with homicide, attempted homicide, and breaking and entering.
According to a police spokeswoman, “two 17-year-old lads, one from Holland Park and the other from Zillmere, have both been charged with one count each of murder, attempted murder, and enter residence with purpose in company.”
Both are scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Children’s Court after being rejected police bail.
According to police, a fight broke out on the front porch, where Lovell, a mother of two, was stabbed in the chest.
Lovell was declared dead in the hospital after paramedics arrived on the scene and tried to revive her.
Lee, Lovell’s 43-year-old husband, sustained a non-life-threatening back injury.
On Tuesday, Lee Lovell expressed his grief at his wife’s “senseless” passing.
She was a truly lovely lady. We’re all crushed by the loss, including me. He told Seven News, “I don’t know why people do that; it’s nonsensical.
On Boxing Day, about 11.30 p.m., two intruders are said to have disturbed a couple in their 40s inside their home in North Lakes, in the Moreton Bay area, according to superintendent John Hallam.
He claimed that yapping dogs had awakened the couple.
Hallam remarked, “They were defending their house. He continued, “The weapon and how the damage was sustained are currently under investigation.
The two suspected invaders, according to Hallam, left the scene but were caught by the police dog squad at a nearby house.
There are currently no known connections between the detainees and the victims, according to Hallam.
The family was “traumatized and devastated,” he claimed. He continued, “They lost their mother and their wife. “The entire neighborhood is in sorrow as well.”
Leanne Linard, Queensland’s minister for juvenile justice, called it “an awful tragedy.”
We need to acknowledge that there is a grieving family and that this is a very sad day. Our thoughts are with them, she said.
According to Hallam, two further boys have been detained and are cooperating law enforcement.
Police reported that residents of North Lakes had started a fundraising effort for the family.
The fundraiser stated that Emma is survived by her husband Lee and two daughters, who are now dealing with the unbearable loss of their cherished mother and wife.
For the first time in 11 years, the family, who are originally from England, spent Christmas Day on the beach, according to a social media post made by Lee Lovell just hours earlier.
The house has been labeled a crime scene.
Anyone with information, dash cam footage, or CCTV footage is requested to contact police, according to investigators.
