The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) reports that an Australian man died while engaged in combat in Ukraine.
According to DFAT, Sage O’Donnell’s mother claimed that her son “killed in action protecting the independence of the Ukrainian people.”
It is thought that he passed away right before Christmas.
Australian consular support is being given to the family of a man who died in Ukraine, according to DFAT.
The passing of Mr. O’Donnell, according to his mother, left the family “devastated” and his “humor, good heart, values, and laughter will be sadly missed.”
“Sage lost his life while protecting the Ukrainian people’s freedom. He has always been committed to upholding the rights of the nation, its citizens, and to freedom “Unidentified mother of the boy stated.
Sage devotedly kept his principles while serving both in his own nation and most recently in Ukraine.
“Sage made the decision to take action because he feels sorry for the Ukrainian people and the injustice that is occurring.
“He was humbled by the warmth and compassion of his new community and fell in love with Ukraine and its culture.
“Sage made the decision to live a life consistent with his ideals and purpose.”
