Rangpur records 0.65pc Covid-19 positivity Friday

Rangpur division recorded 0.65 percent Covid- 19 positivity rate as only one fresh case was diagnosed after testing 153 samples at two laboratories today.

Health officials said the Covid-19 pandemic situation is improving rapidly as the number of positive cases is decreasing daily amid declining positivity rate during the last more than two weeks.

Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 2.06 per cent on Thursday,3.31 per cent on Wednesday, 4.76 per cent on Tuesday, 4.93 per cent on Monday 2.56 per cent on Sunday and 10.19 per cent on Saturday last in the division.”None was diagnosed positive after testing 60 samples at the Covid-19Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) today,” said the Principal of RPMs Professor Dr Bimal Chandra Roy.

The only new patient was reported positive after testing 94 samples at theCovid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the 1.06 per cent positivity rate today.”The single new patient is hailing from Dinajpur district,” said the Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md. Zakirul Islam said told the national news agency that the total number of Covid-19 patients reached 64,082 as one new positive cases were reported today from across the division.The district-wise break up of total of 64,082 patients includes 14,948 of Rangpur, 4,415 Panchagarh, 5,474 of Nilphamari, 3,277 of Lalmonirhat, 4,977of Kurigram, 8,578 of Thakurgaon, 16,907 of Dinajpur and 5,506 of Gaibandha in the division.
