The United Nations has been publishing the ‘World Happiness Report’ for the last 10 years. The report is based on a survey of how people in more than 150 countries around the world evaluate their own lives.
2022 report says it could help countries formulate policies aimed at achieving a happier society. During epidemics and wars, we need such efforts more than ever.
It also states that the World Happiness Report 2022 is a source of “bright light in the dark.”
The report was compiled this year by U.S. researchers based on a Gallup Institute study of the effects of the coronavirus crisis on human well-being.
The World Happiness Report lists Finland as the happiest country for the fifth time in a row.
It is followed by Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Israel and New Zealand. The United Kingdom is 16th, South Korea 59th and China 62nd.
Bangladesh ranks 94th out of 146 countries in the UN World Happiness Report. Bangladesh is 7 steps ahead of last year in the list of countries with happy population. In last year’s report, Bangladesh was ranked 101 out of 149 countries in the world.
In this year’s list, India ranks 136th and Pakistan 121st.
The economic and social situation of a country is taken into consideration while compiling the list of happy countries. In this case, the personal well-being of the citizens of each country, individual freedom, GDP and the level of corruption are taken into consideration.
According to the report, the lessons of the World Happiness Report over the years have been social support, generosity towards each other and honesty in government. World leaders should be wary of these poisons. Politics should be conducted on the basis of this principle, not for the power of the rulers, but for the welfare of the people.
