A guy, 32 years old, has been taken into custody following the discovery of a youngster’s body in the bushlands of Sydney’s south-west.
The boy was 15 years old.
A concerned citizen phoned the police at approximately 7:30 in the morning today to report that they had seen a boy in distress in the bushlands off Wilton Park Road in Wilton, which is located south of Campbelltown.
After locating the boy’s body, the police set up a crime scene.
A 32-year-old guy showed up at the Narellan Police Station just after 4 o’clock in the afternoon, after an earlier plea for information.
As of this writing, the investigation has placed him in police arrest.
We have not yet filed any charges. We have informed the boy’s relatives, but we have not officially identified him yet.
People in the Picton area think he lives there.
“We believe something has happened on the Friday evening, but the exact time in relation to what has actually happened is still under investigation,” said Acting Superintendent Tim Calman of the NSW Police Services.
People linked to a camping trip that may have taken place in the vicinity are being considered as potential suspects.
Condolences were extended by Calman to the family and friends of the adolescent lad.
“It’s a tragic event for this young person to be involved in,” according to him.
The family and their extended network of friends will be facing some difficult times this afternoon as they work through this difficult period, and we want them to know how much we care about them.
No one had reported the youngster as missing, and the authorities had no prior knowledge of him.
