Former Wallaby and NRL great Wendell Sailor is facing assault charges after an alleged incident at a bar in Sydney’s central business district.
According to eyewitnesses, Sailor got into an argument with a group at 11 o’clock last night after drinking for hours at Sydney’s Pappy’s Bar.
Sailor reportedly assaulted the victim in an area adjacent to the pub where the incident escalated.
The manager of the venue allegedly barred Sailor from re-entering the bar.
He allegedly resisted leaving, prompting the authorities to intervene.
The Day Street Police Station received five charges against him, including two counts of common assault and one act of insulting behaviour.
He was arrested and taken into custody.
He is scheduled to make an appearance later this month at the Downing Centre Local Court after being granted bail.
