Rescue efforts for a swimmer who fell into the water off the NSW Central Coast, north of Sydney, will have to wait until morning to resume.
Off the coast of The Entrance, two rescue helicopters searched for the missing person.
Reports of a person in the sea prompted emergency services to be dispatched to the beach around 5:15pm.
Search operations have included land, air, and sea operations by officers from the Tuggerah Lakes Police District, Marine Area Command, Surf Life Saving, and the Toll and Westpac Rescue Helicopters.
