The continuing tobacco warfare in Melbourne have claimed yet another victim—a Mickleham cafe and convenience shop.
The shop was completely destroyed after a car was pushed through the front door by arsonists, one of whom also set himself on fire.
A convenience store and cafe were both destroyed in the fire, which dozens of firefighters battled to put out.
The specific assault took place shortly after midnight.
We were terrified it was a bomb going off because everyone on our block was asking, “Did a bomb go off?” ‘What’s going on?'” One local woman, Katrina, made the statement.
The fire was “15 to 20 feet in the sky,” according to another neighbor.
The perpetrators were seen on surveillance film repeatedly hitting the storefront before igniting it.
One of them caught fire unintentionally while doing so. The gunfire also hit a nearby medical facility, a kindergarten, and other nearby businesses.
Reportedly, Mark’s wife was employed by the medical facility.
“From what I know a couple of the rooms at the back and the kitchen as well in the clinic have been burnt down and all the entrance and reception area has been flooded,” added the doctor.
Upon arrival, patients were taken aback by what they observed.
They think they sold shishas, cigarettes, and vapes in the Grab n Go cafe and convenience shop.
The Lunar Task Force is currently looking into the matter to determine if it has any connection to the continuing tobacco conflicts.
Over the past year, over 110 arson attacks have been recorded.
