Following the discovery of a woman’s body in a caravan park in a small town in rural New South Wales, a man has been charged with murder.
Authorities discovered a woman’s body in a tent at the caravan park and arrested a man they claim was covered in blood, turning the site into a crime scene.
Friday morning, a 29-year-old male was taken into custody following the discovery of the woman’s death at a Gunnedah Tourist Caravan Park on Henry Street in Gunnedah, located in the central north of the state, around 8.20am.
Earlier today, he was indicted on murder charges.
According to Chief Inspector Michael Wurth, a guy drenched in blood met the police when they arrived at the scene, and the corpse of the woman was found in a tent not long after.
“Police were called to a disturbance at a caravan park, on arrival police were confronted by a male person with blood on him,” said Wurth.
“Investigations revealed a person in a nearby tent was seriously injured.” The scene, he said, was “traumatic.”
Even though rescuers arrived, the woman passed away instantly. Police confiscated a knife that was discovered at the location.
According to Wurth, the police were summoned after an initial disturbance at the property.
The lady is probably in her 50s, at the earliest.
Although the woman’s identity is yet unknown, authorities suspect that the two are acquainted.
According to Wurth, the male has spent the past two weeks in the trailer park, while the woman resides in a Gunnedah residence.
The individual is currently aiding law enforcement at the Gunnedah Police Station after being transported there.
Slightly more than 13,000 people call Gunnedah, which is located approximately 75 kilometers from Tamworth, home.
Parramatta Local Court will hear the case today from the 29-year-old.
