A flight from Perth to Auckland was disrupted early yesterday due to an allegedly drunk passenger, according to the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
The 23-year-old is facing assault charges and further charges of refusing to comply with the crew’s orders.
A minor injury was sustained by the crew member.
Officers from the Australian Federal Police boarded the plane at Melbourne Airport and freed the man from his restraints when the jet was diverted.
A single offense of assaulting crew members in the course of their duties was brought against the man.
The maximum sentence for this crime is twenty years in prison.
