In western Sydney, a man was taken into custody in connection with the deadly stabbing of his father.
At approximately 6:30 in the morning, authorities were alerted to a residence on Layton Street in Wentworthville.
Upon arrival, they discovered 64-year-old George Vaz with a knife wound to the neck.
Paramedics tried their best, but he passed away at the site. The alleged murder of his 34-year-old son, Shayne Vaz, has led to his arrest.
The incident did not hurt his mother or George’s wife, who was also present at the property and was sixty years old.
Not long after that, Shayne was hauled into custody and sent to the Granville Police Station.
Just moments before the alleged incident, neighbors claimed to have heard screams emanating from the house.
According to them, this was not the initial incident with the house being visited by law enforcement.
Based on what Homicide Squad commander Danny Doherty claimed, the victim had been stabbed “several times.”
“It’s another sad, domestic-related incident, we believe,” added Doherty.
After being taken into police custody, Shayne was taken to a hospital this afternoon to undergo forensic testing that was mandated by the court.
Investigators are still trying to determine whether the stabbing was influenced by mental health issues, thus charges have not been filed yet.
