Police in Sydney’s west have reported a targeted incident overnight whereby a guy has been shot in his arm.
Police are looking for the gunman behind the 29-year-old’s shooting at Sydney Olympic Park’s Figtree Drive.
About three in the morning today, emergency personnel called there treated an arm wound and then transported him to a hospital.
Apartment block on the same street’s residents claimed to have heard gunfire.
A witness said, “They sounded like whips… they were ricochezing off these walls.”
“Then I heard the gate get wrecked in, and three guys all in black with hoodies ran to this vehicle.”
The man’s partner who was shot phoned these Neuropathy Police to the house; NSW Police Superintendent Robert Toynton said.
“This is a really unfortunate incident; we are handling this as a targeted attack,” he said.
Police knew the victim, and investigators are looking at any connections to organised crime.
Police were summoned to Dalley Street in the neighbouring area of Lidcombe a short time later where a car was discovered on fire.
The fire damaged one house’s window and drove residents from their homes out of extreme intensity.
“A huge bang rang out… woke up my sister, left the house, and immediately called the fire brigade,” resident Sivanujan Sivakumaran said.
Officers claimed the getaway vehicle used in the shooting was a burnt-out Range Rover.
