Yesterday, Perth’s Bhutanese community assembled in large numbers at HBF Park to greet the king of Bhutan warmly.
Arriving in the city yesterday on his first-ever trip to Australia, His Royal Highness Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck More than 19,000 registered attendees braved the bad weather, creating huge queues snaking around the block in expectation of his arrival.
Originally scheduled for Canberra and Sydney, the tour seeks to boost diplomatic relations between Australia and Bhutan.
