Police in Sydney’s inner west have charged a man with threatening individuals with a machete on a street before fleeing inside a neighboring house.
Around 10:30 this morning, authorities in Leichhardt were alerted to the man’s whereabouts and sent to the block where Norton Street and Marion Street meet.
The 54-year-old male was subsequently and peacefully taken into custody by police at the Newtown Police station.
He faced four charges, including affray, common assault, attempted stalking or intimidation with the aim to provoke fear of injury, and armed with the intent to commit an indictable offense.
Tomorrow, the man from Leichhardt will have to face the Parramatta Bail Court after being denied bail.
Due to construction between Cromwell and Elswick streets, buses were rerouted for approximately one hour.
