The murder of a “well-liked” Marrickville rugby league player by stabbing has led to the arrest of a man.
At approximately 7.40 p.m. on Monday, reports of a man’s assault prompted the dispatch of emergency services to Marrickville Road in Sydney’s Inner West.
The 32-year-old Sitaleki Filihiahekava passed away after being discovered injured outside of a Guzman y Gomez fast food joint.
Shortly after the attack, a man who the police felt might have been involved was spotted rushing down Silver Street, according to the police.
The assault occurred while Filihiahekava and his family were dining at a restaurant.
Today at approximately 5:40 pm in Concord, a 31-year-old male was taken into custody.
So far, no one has been charged.
