A 19-year-old male has been granted bail following his suspected involvement in the collision that resulted in the death of a lady in Brisbane last week.
Allegedly, while operating a motor vehicle unaccompanied with a learner’s license, Orlando Tauaa exceeded the speed limit by two times.
A 35-year-old woman named Tess Watschur was struck by a Mitsubishi Lancer just before 5 in the morning on Thursday while she was walking on a pathway near the Coopers Plains intersection of Kessels and Riawena roads.
She was thrown over a fence by the impact of the crash.
The Lancer’s driver was rushed to the hospital in a stable condition, but she died at the spot.
Logan Reserve police have charged a 19-year-old man with reckless operation of a vehicle causing death, excessive speeding, and being an unaccompanied learner driver following an appeal for information last week.
Authorities were against Tauaa’s bail.
Prosecutor Jeanette Mitchell stated that he poses a threat to both the community and drivers.
Bail was granted to Tauaa, but he was also ordered to surrender his passport and forbidden from driving.
Next month, he’ll be back in court.
