A 3.0 magnitude earthquake, one of multiple felt in the Hunter region of New South Wales in the previous month, has jolted the area.
At 3:22 pm today, an earthquake shook Muswellbrook, and scores of people felt shocks nearby.
Deep 1 km beneath the surface in the Upper Hunter area was where the tremor was felt.
As of Monday at 4:20 p.m., 28 individuals had reported feeling the earthquake, according to Geoscience Australia.
It occurred at a depth of 5 kilometers, barely weeks after a quake of a magnitude of 4.5 hit the village of Edderton in Muswellbrook just before 6am on September 7.
Forster and Wollongong were among the places where people reported feeling the earthquake, as reported by Geoscience Australia.
About 2,500 houses were without electricity when the earthquake hit.
Within the last twelve months, six earthquakes greater than 1.5 on the Richter scale have occurred in Muswellbrook.
