After a heated confrontation, police finally apprehended a man they say was brandishing two machetes.
At before 9.30 p.m. last night, police were alerted to a residence on Erin Street in Richmond, east Melbourne, after reports indicated that a male was causing damage to his property using machetes.
The 47-year-old man was designated as “agitated” and a critical response team was dispatched to engage him in a series of hours-long negotiations.
Officers demand the man leave the house unarmed in footage acquired by. once a protracted standoff with police, the man was eventually taken into custody once the area was secured.
Afterwards, he was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
Police have stated that there is no continuing danger to the neighborhood, and no one was hurt in the event.
