Authorities in New South Wales have filed charges against a man on suspicion of possessing child abuse materials and trying to import a sex doll depicting a child.
In August, the Sydney Container Examination Facility discovered a consignment that contained a child-like sex doll, prompting the Australian Border Force to initiate an investigation.
On September 3, following additional investigations, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Waratah, resulting in the seizure of many items for forensic analysis.
Together with the New South Wales Police, officers went back to the same house around 5 in the morning on Friday and detained a guy aged 42.
Two counts of possessing child abuse material were brought against him by the NSW Police, while the ABF charged him with importing a child-like sex doll.
A punishment of up to $782,500 or ten years in prison, or both, could be imposed for the alleged importation.
He will not be able to post bail and must instead appear in Newcastle Local Court on Friday, September 20, 2024.
