Andrew O’Keefe, a former television host, has been detained in Sydney for allegedly breaching his bail conditions.
The 52-year-old was arrested this afternoon after his domestic violence convictions were not overturned on appeal last week.
“About 2.25pm today, a 52-year-old man was arrested at Rose Bay Police Station in relation to an alleged breach of bail incident,” according to the police.
“The man has been taken to Waverley Police Station where he is assisting police with inquiries.”
O’Keefe’s arrest comes days after he was brought to the hospital after allegedly overdosing on drugs in eastern Sydney.
“Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were called to a home unit on Old South Head Road at Vaucluse about 3.40am, Saturday 14 September 2024, responding to concerns for the welfare of a 52-year-old man,” a police spokesperson said.
“NSW Ambulance paramedics rendered assistance to the man before taking him to St Vincent’s Hospital.”
Last week, a court denied O’Keefe’s request to have his domestic violence convictions overturned, saying that the former TV personality had a habit of spitting at his female victim during fights.
However, he was successful in getting narcotics possession charges dropped.
O’Keefe was found guilty in January of three counts of domestic violence-related assault, twice violating an AVO, and two counts of having a prohibited narcotic.
He was sentenced to 18 months under a community corrections order that includes supervision and reporting requirements.
