A guy is fighting for his life in hospital after being ambushed and stabbed inside a prominent Melbourne nightclub in front of scared customers.
Two males armed with a knife and a machete attacked the 31-year-old Endeavour Hills man at Revolver Upstairs on Chapel Street in Prahran at 4 a.m.
Witnesses reported that workers used tea towels to stop the man bleeding before paramedics came.
The perpetrators fled the scene before police arrived, last seen heading north on Greville Street. Erica, who was inside the club at the time, claimed she was “shocked”.
“We were on the dancefloor and all of a sudden six police officers rushed in and went straight out to the beer garden,” she recalled! “I believe something happened out there.
They suddenly shut it down, and we had no idea what was going on; it was scary.” After the stabbing, the nightclub’s management issued a statement saying it was “committed to providing a safe and secure environment” for all.
“We are heartbroken by the violent incident that occurred at Revolver Upstairs this morning,” a club representative stated.
“Our prayers are with everyone touched by this horrible occurrence. Our top goal has always been the safety of our customers, artists, and employees. “We have made the decision to close the venue while we are working through the initial stages of this situation.”
The man’s two suspected attackers have yet to be found.
