In order for international pop sensation Vanessa Amorosi to sell the house and cover restitution, her mother has been forced to vacate Melbourne.
In August, 43-year-old Amorosi filed a successful lawsuit in the Victorian Supreme Court against Joyleen Robinson, claiming complete ownership of the Narre Warren land her mother resides on.
Amorosi’s success led to the acquisition of the house, but Robinson maintained that she should have owned it since she had given her daughter the $650,000 they had agreed upon back in 2001.
According to Judge Steven Moore, Amorosi should be the only owner of the Narre Warren property because there was never any agreement between the two.
However, the judge decided that, after accounting for the $650,000 payment plus interest, Robinson should get nearly $900,000 in compensation from Amorosi.
Justice Moore rendered further decisions today because the parties could not agree on the precise instructions that would follow the August judgement.
He ruled that Robinson would have sixty days to vacate the Narre Warren property and give Amorosi ownership.
The musician has the same amount of time to provide her mother the $650,000 plus interest exceeding $219,000 in her will.
According to Justice Moore, the injunction ought to be suspended until March 31, 2025.
According to him, that would allow Mrs Robinson time to look for alternate housing and allow Amorosi to sell the property and raise the money necessary for reparation.
