Callum and Jake Robinson, two boys from Perth who were slain in Mexico earlier this year, have a foundation named after them.
Their parents have disclosed that they intend to utilise donations to support this endeavour.
Since the Robinson siblings and their American friend vanished several weeks ago, thousands of people have contributed nearly $350,000 to support the family.
Debra and Martin Robinson, the parents, have informed donors that they plan to use the funds to assist a range of charitable endeavours.
“To drive this initiative, we have created a foundation as a tribute to Callum and Jake and will be guided by people well versed in caring for others,” a statement said.
“Although it’s early in the process, we intend to soon have a webpage that will provide details on the allocation of your valuable gift funds. “Your contribution goes beyond a simple money donation; it’s evidence of the strength of community and our shared conviction that we can effect long-lasting change.
“You have played a crucial role in making our vision a reality, and for that, we will be forever grateful.”
On April 27, the Robinson brothers and their American buddy Jack Carter Rhoad vanished while on a surf trip in Baja California, one of the most violent states in the union.
Authorities in the area started a weeks-long search operation.
Police eventually discovered their bodies disposed of inside a well close to their isolated campsite in early May after discovering a burned-out truck.
Although the Australians were slain in what the police describe as a “robbery gone wrong,” there are concerns that their execution-style murders may have been related to organised crime.
Five citizens of Mexico have been taken into custody in connection with their purported killings.
June saw the funeral for Callum and Jake.
“Not a day goes by when we don’t think about our beautiful sons, the connections they had with people like you and the lives they could have had,” their parents stated after the incident, which occurred four months ago.
