Following the death of a 12-year-old child on the Gold Coast in April 2022, two persons have been charged with murder.
Emergency personnel were called to Tiffani Scholten’s Coomera house, where they discovered her to be unresponsive.
Subsequently, she was pronounced deceased.
Detectives from Queensland Police detained a 37-year-old male and a 36-year-old woman last week and accused them both of killing someone.
The police will claim that the child knows them both. Following the “extensive investigation”, a representative from the Vulnerable Persons Unit of Queensland Police commended the commitment of the police.
.Detective Inspector Paul Fletcher stated, “This has been one of the most heartbreaking and complex investigations we’ve had to conduct into the death of this young girl.”
“Since the investigation started, our top goal has been to bring justice to this helpless child who was sadly let down by those in her life. “It is deeply distressing to investigate the death of any child, but the circumstances surrounding this case have been particularly confronting for our officers.”
Detectives had put in a lot of effort, according to Fletcher, utilising all available resources to wrap up the case and “make sure those responsible face the full weight of the law.”
He said that the length of the probe was increased by background enquiries brought on by medical issues.
Fletcher also recognised the effect the case had on the victim’s immediate family and the community.
“We hope that these arrests provide some measure of comfort to those who knew and loved this young child. We are aware of the loss and pain this has caused the community. Nothing can make up for the terrible deaths, but we’re determined to see that justice is done,” he remarked.
The Southport Magistrates Court was scheduled to hear the 37-year-old male and the 36-year-old female today.
