After being shot when he confronted a man he thought was pursuing his daughter in Melbourne’s southeast overnight, the father is still in an induced coma.
Blessing Valla, 21, was driving in Cranbourne East at around 12.25 in the morning when she saw an unidentified male following her inside a white station waggon, according to the police.
Ms. Valla made a fast call to her father, Victor, who instructed her to go to their house, where he was waiting for her outside.
According to Detective Acting Superintendent Mick Daly, the white station waggon trailed Ms. Valla’s residence.
When Mr. Valla got close to the car, there was a fight. At a press conference, Daly stated, “The father went out to confront the person in the other vehicle, and after an altercation, the driver shot the father.”
After being shot in the abdomen, the 58-year-old guy drove off in the white station waggon.
After Mrs. Valla dialled triple zero, Mr. Valla received assistance from neighbours and was transferred to the hospital with critical but non-life-threatening injuries.
This afternoon, his health remained stable but serious.
The shooting, according to Mr. Valla’s ex-wife, was not prompted.
She added, “My daughter watched it all.” Her words were, ‘Dad, don’t go.’
” I left my daughter clutching her father’s hand. “She told me, ‘Dad almost lost his life for me’, it’s crazy, it was a young boy with the gun.”
The shooting is being investigated by police as a random incident, and they do not think the victims knew one another.
“We don’t know why she was targeted herself and why the offender shot the father,” Daly stated.
According to police, a different carjacking and stabbing incident that happened in Cranbourne East was unrelated.
Anybody with information regarding the incident or who may have seen any unusual behaviour in the vicinity, especially with a white vehicle, is welcome to talk with the detectives.
