After a gang was spotted fleeing from a Melbourne park where a man’s body was discovered early this morning, several knives were discovered.
About 4.20 a.m., according to homicide squad detective inspector Dean Thomas, a man at Derrimut’s Balmoral Park discovered the victim hurt and contacted the police.
He passed away at the site despite the man and emergency personnel’s best efforts to revive him.
Thomas recognized the man as a Derrimut resident, age 28, who looked to have been stabbed.
At a press conference today, he stated, “What we do know is that the deceased male was last seen by his sister in the company of three males around 9pm in the Derrimut area.”
The probe will include what transpired between 9 p.m. yesterday and 4:20 a.m. today, as well as who he was with.
According to Thomas, numerous knives have been discovered across the park, and numerous people have been observed fleeing the area.
While investigations are still ongoing, a crime scene has been formed and the park has been closed to the public.
