Premier of Victoria Jacinta Allan has consented to meet with a former ministerial employee who claims Labour MP Will Fowles sexually assaulted her.
The woman, who worked in Fowles’ electorate office, claimed to News Corp that she had been attacked in an August of last year in a hotel room paid for by taxpayers.
After former premier Daniel Andrews reported the purported assault to police in August of last year, the Ringwood MP resigned from his role within the parliamentary Labour Party.
There was not enough evidence for the police to charge him.
Fowles has consistently insisted on his innocence and refuted the accusations. “Victoria Police have concluded their investigation and cleared my name,” he stated.
“I vehemently refute this accusation. It didn’t take place. No assault occurred.”
Following the publication of additional information about the staffer’s charges in the Herald Sun, the MP did not appear in parliament today.
The employee had been in communication with Allan’s office, she claimed, and they would meet at a “suitable time.”
“I will always stand and support victim survivors,” she stated.
“This matter contains allegations that are deeply troubling and traumatic.”
The ex-employee advocated for a change in the parliamentary culture of Victoria.
