Ashlee Good’s partner, who was stabbed in Westfield Bondi, said he has been “overwhelmed” by the community’s support in the months following the tragedy.
During the horrific rampage on April 13, Good, 38, was mortally stabbed while attempting to protect her nine-month-old daughter from the perpetrator.
A campaign was started to pay for baby Harriet’s future care after the attack left her in the intensive care unit, battling for her life. In the months following the tragedy, the GoFundMe page received almost $846,700 in donations.
Dan Flanagan, Good’s partner, thanked the community and gave an update on their daughter’s condition.
“The overwhelming support, kindness, and generosity we’ve received in the wake of our unimaginable loss has been beyond words,” he stated. “There are so many people to thank for their support, strength and kindness over the past months – from emergency service workers to doctors, nurses, family, friends and kind strangers.”
Although nothing will make the agony of losing his partner go away, Flanagan claimed that solace came from each and every word of support.
Along with other families, friends, and communities grieving their own losses and traumas from the catastrophe, he also sent his condolences to them.
“Our lives will never be the same, and I wish every one of you your own strength and hope you’re getting the support required to navigate such incomprehensible and difficult times,” Flanagan stated.
“Although our family of three will never understand how our family of two became one, innumerable people—including each and every one of you who left comments and made donations via this page—have reassured me that, despite the awful events that do occur, there are more good things than bad in this world. “While Harriet and I do our best to navigate our new world privately, I want to make one public promise to each of you: that the kindness and generosity you’ve shown us will never be forgotten.”
Joel Cauchi, forty, went on a rampage through the shopping complex in Sydney’s east, killing six people, including Good.
When Cauchi attacked the two, she was pushing baby Harriet in a stroller through the centre.
According to her family, Good was “a beautiful mother, daughter, sister, partner, friend, all around outstanding human and so much more.”
Ashlee Good, the partner of the Bondi stabbing victim, gives an update following amazing community donations.
