A teacher in southwest Sydney has been charged after it was reported that she had sex with a teenage boy.
Following allegations that a 17-year-old boy had been sexually molested by a teacher, police launched an inquiry yesterday.
At 4 PM yesterday, they then took 30-year-old PE teacher Tayla Brailey into custody at a school in the southwest of Sydney.
She allegedly touched a 17-year-old pupil in a sexual manner during their purported sex.
After being brought to the Liverpool Police Station, she was accused of having sex with a person receiving special care between the ages of 17 and 18 and of touching them inappropriately.
Before Brailey appeared in court today via video chat from jail, police denied him bail.
As far as Mark News is aware, Bailey got married a year ago.
Today, in Liverpool Court, her parents and husband were present when a judge rejected an attempt to keep the teacher’s name secret.
She returned home tonight after the court granted her bail.
In light of the allegations, the NSW Department of Education has placed the teacher on paid leave of absence.
A department spokesman stated, “Our top priorities are the safety and welfare of students.”
“The department is equipped with robust policies and procedures to guarantee their well-being and safeguarding, as well as to respond to claims of employee misconduct.
“We are providing support to students and staff that require it.”
The Professional and Ethical Standards Directorate of the education department has been tasked with handling the situation, and they are in communication with the police.
