Authorities are looking into the possibility that an overnight suspicious house fire is connected to the unexplained gunshot deaths of two men in southwest Sydney.
At approximately 9.30 a.m. today, police were called to a Claymore establishment where a man with shoulder injuries was seeking medical attention.
A short while later, authorities received a second call reporting that a man had been located at the nearby Highfield Park on Proctor Way with gunshot wounds to his shoulder and head.
Paramedics attended to both guys, who were subsequently transported to a hospital under unclear circumstances.
Authorities have set up a crime scene and initiated inquiries into what they perceive to be a deliberate assault.
“At a press conference today, Superintendent Grant Healey stated that this kind of senseless violence has serious repercussions.”
“This reckless disregard for everybody’s safety, police will investigate and put those people before the courts.”
In connection with the reported shooting, police are looking for two individuals who appear to be Maori or Pacific Islanders.
They are pleading for anyone who has information to come forward.
According to Healy, the police are looking into if the incident is connected to the reported assault and the strange house fire that occurred in the Minto suburb of the southwest last night.
“We’ve got information that makes us think they might be linked,” he stated.
About 11 p.m., the 53-year-old resident of the house went outside and is said to have been struck by an unidentified individual with an object.
Then, it’s thought that two men purposefully set the house on fire.
Despite being inside the house at the time, two women—one in her 20s and the other in her 60s—escaped unharmed.
Healy reported that there was no sign of violence associated with gangs.
