At a beach in Sydney’s east that is well-known for rock fishing, the bodies of two fisherman have been discovered.
Emergency services were summoned to Little Bay Beach in Little Bay this morning at approximately 11.10 a.m.
One body was discovered by police next to the rocks, and another was discovered about 90 minutes later.
Police added that after discovering personal belongings on the rocks, a member of the public called emergency services.
When they arrived, members of the Eastern Beaches Police Area Command officers began searching.
The riskiest place in Australia to go rock fishing is Little Bay.
With today’s deaths, the total number of deaths at this location since 2001 is eight.
Laws requiring life jackets for fishermen along the coastal area were introduced in 2016.
It’s believed that at least one of those discovered was wearing one, but there’s no way of knowing if they were removed from the rocks.
