Two firefighters are among the three persons in the hospital following a massive fire in Brisbane that destroyed three homes.
The Grange’s Evelyn Street residents were anxious for hours as the fire spread and firefighters fought to preserve nearby homes.
It is thought that a fuel spill is what started the fire, which 40 firemen battled.
Firefighter Douglas May stated, “Someone was filling up a vehicle; the fuel has ignited on the ground.”
The owner of the house, David Topp, reported to Brisbane that this afternoon, he got “frantic calls” from pals.
“We’ve just literally arrived home now and our house is looking like it’s going to go up in flames,” he stated.
“We’ve got three cats in there, they can’t be replaced, possessions can.”
Down the street, neighbors took in pets from homes that were in danger.
Tonight, a number of teams are still present at the location and are still saturating homes with water from the air.
Neighboring street inhabitants have been requested by the fire department to keep their doors and windows closed.
