Two individuals are facing charges for allegedly defacing Macquarie University in Sydney’s facilities with stickers and other symbols.
On February 25, according to complaints that police received, five persons entered the university’s premises and vandalised 24 different spots on the campus.
Subsequently, on May 21, officers were notified of another incident in which two individuals purportedly approached and threatened a 20-year-old at the Herring Road bus stop.
“The man allegedly filmed the incident and uploaded the video to social media,” according to authorities.
Police using special tactics and counterterrorism units raided a Marsfield residence at around six in the morning yesterday as part of their investigations into the reports.
A 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were taken into custody by the authorities there after various objects associated with extreme right-wing ideology were discovered and seized.
They were both accused of damaging or destroying corporate property, disguising their identity in order to commit an indictable crime, possessing a graffiti tool with the purpose to violate Section 4, and entering anyone’s designated property without permission.
The individual was also accused with stalking, intimidating, intending to cause bodily harm, and entering an enclosed area that was not authorised without a valid reason.
Conditional bail was granted to the two. The man will appear in court on August 13, while the woman will do so on July 24.
