Following a thrilling foot pursuit, one man has been taken into custody, while police are looking for another following an alleged armed house invasion in Perth’s southeast.
The moment a man was apprehended after leading police on a chase through Thornlie was captured on dramatic bodycam footage.
A policeman from Western Australia was observed jumping a fence and threatening a man with a Taser while shouting, “Drop the weapon now, or I’ll taser you.”
Two men are said to have broken into a house on Natasha Way in Camillo early this morning, armed with a knife and a revolver.
The males allegedly made threats against three of the housemates before making off with a car and a number of household belongings.
Police added that after they left the property, a supposedly stolen Ford Falcon was spotted in nearby Thornlie, where it did not stop for them.
Following a brief chase, the vehicle came to a stop on Greenway Avenue, and the driver took off running.
Mark News was able to collect footage that showed an officer chasing a man through the streets and eventually finding him in what looked like a backyard.
It was heard that the police said, “Oi, stay where you are.”
He commanded, “Put down the weapon.” The man was placed on the ground and taken into custody.
Authorities claimed to have found the gun they believe was used in the purported break-in.
A 31-year-old male was accused by police with numerous charges, such as aggravated home burglary, armed robbery, automobile theft, dangerous driving without a licence, and failing to stop when instructed.
