After a woman he shared a house with was discovered fatally stabbed inside a Sydney Inner West residence, a man has been taken into custody.
A lady was reportedly shouting during a “domestic incident” at a residence on Clements Street in Russell Lea at 11:07 a.m., according to Superintendent Christine McDonald.
When the police arrived, the woman, who was in her 50s, had many significant stab wounds to her upper torso, according to her statement.
Additionally discovered at the site and taken into custody was a 42-year-old guy who is thought to be her roommate.
According to McDonald, the two were living together in the house with three other people who were present at the time.
It had been roughly two or three weeks since the man moved into the house.
“The other housemates are obviously upset,” she stated.
“If you are known to a victim, and you are a housemate of hers, you would be very distressed.”
The nature of the guy and woman’s relationship is being investigated by the authorities, but it is not thought to have been romantic.
At Burwood Police Station, the 42-year-old is being questioned by law enforcement.
McDonald stated that there was a man’s non-violent traffic and drug-related police background.
