The last, devastating text message that the teenage girl who was killed by a bus in Brisbane’s CBD wrote to her boyfriend has been made public.
On March 8, Tia Cameron, 18, was allegedly hit and murdered by a bus that mounted the sidewalk after leaving a beauty salon on Edward Street.
Her lover Hayden McKinlay has gained the bravery to finally talk about her loss in the three months following the tragedy.
He claimed to have gotten a video message from Cameron shortly after she left the facility, showcasing her cosmetic treatment.
“And yeah, our last phone call was ‘love you and I’ll see you soon’,” he continued.
The pair met when they were 12 and 13 years old, and they were high school sweethearts.
“I still think I’m still going to hear from her, I’m still going to see her, the truth is it’s not going to happen,” McKinlay stated.
He claimed that at the time of the catastrophe, they were making plans for the future.
Together, we had a lot of plans: we wanted to travel, purchase our first house, and start a family.
Everything was present before to this incident,” he stated.
Lindsay Selby, a 70-year-old bus driver, was charged with one count of reckless driving resulting in death yesterday.
Selby’s court date is scheduled on June 26.
