A youngster died and four companions were hospitalized after a car crash in Sydney’s west overnight.
Near 11.15 p.m. yesterday, a Honda Accord left the road and slammed into a tree near the Horsley Drive and Mimosa Road intersection in Wetherill Park, prompting emergency workers to respond.
The driver, 18-year-old Selina Ly, died on the spot. Ly, a recent Cecil Hills High School graduate, was driving on her red P-plates.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated four passengers for non-life-threatening injuries before transporting them to hospital for further treatment.
It is understood that they had to be pulled from the car.
A 19-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy were transported to Liverpool Hospital.
One has sustained a major chest damage.
Two 17-year-olds, a boy and a girl, are in stable condition at Westmead Hospital.
Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
