Following an alleged carjacking in Melbourne’s west last night, three teens have been charged.
Around 11 p.m., according to the police, a rideshare driver in a Mercedes SUV picked up a group of adolescents from Tarneit.
Following the group’s transportation to Wilandra Drive, a youngster was seen on CCTV stepping out of the vehicle, opening the driver’s door and purportedly demanding that the driver come out.
Before the youths got back in the automobile and left the area, according to the police, the driver was allegedly pulled out of the vehicle.
During the event, the 62-year-old motorist was audibly calling for assistance.
The Point Cook guy was brought to the hospital for treatment after sustaining minor injuries.
After being observed exiting the vehicle, two teenage girls were taken into custody shortly after.
After about two and a half hours, according to the police, some of the youngsters allegedly drove across many suburbs before the car was dropped several streets from where it was taken.
Security cameras captured the teenagers jumping over property gates and scattering in various directions.
Two members of the group that left the scene are the subject of an ongoing police investigation.
They arrested three more teenagers.
A 16-year-old boy was among them; he was attacked by a police dog and had to be brought to the hospital.
Two boys in Hoppers Crossing, ages 15 and 18, and Point Cook, ages 18, were accused of stealing a motor vehicle.
Bail was granted to all three so they may subsequently appear in court.
Following their release from police custody, two 14-year-old girls are anticipated to face summons charges for vehicle theft.
