The moment heroic neighbors raced to rescue the life of a man who had fled his burning home south of Brisbane over night has been captured on camera.
About 6:20 p.m., emergency personnel were summoned to the Berrinba residence.
To assist, neighbors hurried to the house.
The two men managed to escape the house, but one was severely burned when his clothes caught fire.
Joshue Cannane and Connor Williams, two neighbors, started to intervene at that point.
“He was just running around trying to get any bit of clothing that was on fire off him,” Cannane stated.
Cannane and Williams, along with an off-duty nurse, started applying damp towels to the man.
“He came running to me and begged for water.
Everyone pitched in to support him,” Williams said.
The dog that was imprisoned inside the totally involved residence was also rescued by another man.
According to Mark News, the homeowner reported to the police that the fire started when he was removing gasoline off his motorcycle.
Although the house was demolished, nearby houses were spared by fire fighters.
According to Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, the two housemates were admitted to the hospital with burns.
A second man who assisted in saving a dog was also admitted to the hospital.
