After allegedly stealing a scooter in Adelaide that contained a secret tracking device, two teenage robbers on trial had nowhere to hide.
Just before 6 p.m. last night, police claimed, a young girl and her male co-accused stole the bike from Frome Road in the city. However, their escape was averted from the beginning because of an Apple Airtag.
The owner of the scooter tracked it to Parafield’s Main North Road before following it via Pooraka’s back streets.
Police were alerted in real time by them, and they swiftly apprehended the teenage couple at Duffield Drive.
According to police, during their botched getaway, they also showed them where two more purportedly stolen motorcycles were located—inside a house on Sandow Avenue.
A 37-year-old man was arrested and accused of stealing.
Electronic tracking tags, according to IT experts, may be extremely useful, especially if thieves managed to get past traditional security measures.
“It will tell you where everything you’ve got is, put an Airtag on it, you can always locate it with your iPhone,” Richard Pascoe, an authority on the subject, stated.
Android and Samsung phones also have customised versions of Airtags.
