Following a teenager’s alleged terror stabbing attack last month, three additional males have been accused in connection with the brawl outside a Wakeley church.
Exclusively invited to see the police operation at Bass Hill Police Station in Sydney’s west against the suspected rioters was Mark News.
The guys, who were 25, 31, and 40 years old, were taken into custody during early morning raids in the areas of Raby, Picnic Point, and Edensor Park. As a result, there have now been 14 arrests made in relation to the violence.
The three males were accused of attempting an aggravated break-in and rioting.
Police will claim that they were part of a group that attempted to break into Christ The Good Shepherd Church following the reported attack on April 15 by Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel.
Superintendent Andrew Evans stated, “We will say they obtained a ladder, they were seeking to smash a part of the church in to gain entry.”
He cautioned that there would still be more riot-related arrests.
“Tomorrow we will release images of eight males and a female who we wish to speak with,” Evans stated.
“I’d encourage those nine people or anyone else that was involved in the riot to hand themselves in.”
After Emmanuel was allegedly stabbed by a 16-year-old boy while preaching, there was a riot.
The 16-year-old is still in court after being accused of committing a terror offense.
Hundreds of people rioted outside the church as police apprehended the youngster, forcing them to call in reinforcements.
Hours of effort were spent trying to subdue the unruly group, resulting in injuries to officers and damaged police cars.
Superintendent Andrew Evans said, “109 police vehicles damaged in some way, and sixty-one police injured.”
With today’s arrests, 14 persons have been detained in relation to the rioting.
