Following the discovery of a young woman’s body inside a North Bondi apartment yesterday morning, two men will appear in court on drug and theft charges.
Following allegations that a woman had been found unresponsive, police and paramedics visited the Hardy Street unit at 9.20 a.m. yesterday, where they located one of the men, 32 years old.
She was pronounced dead at the site after paramedics were unable to resuscitate her.
Although her exact age is unknown, it is thought to be 19.
The 32-year-old, who was wanted on an unrelated outstanding warrant, was transported to Waverley Police Station after being taken into custody on the spot.
After establishing Strike Force Eacham to look into the event, police carried out another raid in neighbouring Flood Street, Bondi, at 5:10 p.m., just a few hours later.
A 34-year-old male was taken into custody after authorities found one gramme of methylamphetamine and cannabis during the search.
Since then, he has been accused of having two instances of illegal drug possession.
The 32-year-old is facing several counts, including resisting a police officer and property destruction, in addition to the outstanding warrant for theft up to $2000.
The elder man was released and is due to appear in court on June 18, but he has been denied bail and will appear before Downing Centre Local Court today.
There will be a post-mortem examination to ascertain the young woman’s cause of death.
Among the many theories being explored by investigators is the possibility that she met an unfortunate end.
