A three-vehicle crash in a major Brisbane tunnel has resulted in two deaths and two hospitalisations.
Long delays during peak hour were caused by the collision, which happened at Mount Coot-tha in the northbound Legacy Way tunnel at approximately 3:11 p.m.
Two deaths at the scene were verified by a Queensland Ambulance official.
According to the spokeswoman, a woman was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with chest injuries and was in a critical condition.
Another patient with head injuries was brought to the same hospital in a stable state.
Queensland Police issued a statement saying, “The northbound tunnel remains closed and is expected to remain so for some time.”
The tunnel’s eastbound lanes are likewise blocked.
Drivers intending to use the tunnel in either direction were advised by QLD Traffic to either find an alternate route or prepare for “long delays”.
