The people detained by police in a narcotics raid today are thought to be connected to a gunshot that occurred in Brisbane last month as well as several other suspected offences in the south-east suburbs.
Police raided an Ipswich residence and found drugs, ammunition, and many firearms.
Authorities were looking into claims that a shot was fired at Carina Heights just before a BMW X4 and an allegedly stolen Mazda 3 collided at a high rate of speed on March 31.
This Wednesday, police allegedly found heroin and methylamphetamine among other drugs and ammunition at a house on Knight Avenue in Silkstone, Ipswich.
During the hunt, an energy weapon was also supposedly discovered.
Another firearm, ammo, and drugs were allegedly found at an address on Winstanley Street in Carina Heights, where a second search warrant was conducted.
The site also included a Ford Ranger purportedly taken from Logan Reserve, an allegedly stolen trailer and an excavator that had been reported stolen from Nundah in March.
After the raids, three men and two women were charged with crimes and are said to be part of a criminal group.
Among them is a Ripley man, age 20, who was accused of receiving stolen property, operating a motor vehicle without permission, operating a motor vehicle dangerously, and neglecting to appear in court.
In addition, he is accused of possessing explosives, violating a device information order, and firing a weapon in a public area.
An order regarding device information from a digital device, possession of utensils, and possession of a forbidden item were all brought against a 47-year-old Raceview man. He was also charged with one count of possession of dangerous substances.
His next scheduled appearance is for May 13 at the Ipswich Magistrates Court.
A 35-year-old man from Springfield Lakes is accused of firing a handgun in a public setting and operating a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner.
On June 4, he is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court.
Two other women, ages 22 and 30, have also been charged.
