Following an intense police chase throughout Melbourne, a man and a woman have been taken into custody.
According to police, at 2:30 PM today, the two stole a delivery vehicle from a Truganina address on Tallis Circuit.
After being summoned, the Air Wing reportedly saw the van going through Mt. Derrimut Road, crossing the street on the wrong side, and running red lights.
Before the driver allegedly tried to drive the van on its rims, officers were able to successfully deploy stop sticks.
After stopping on Leakes Road, the two got out of the car and ran away.
In a short while, they were taken into custody.
Around 2:35 p.m., Travis Miatke observed the van travelling on the wrong side of Fitzgerald Road while en route to pick up his girls, he told Mark News.
“There was probably about six police cars just 20 to 50 metres back,” he stated.
“He must be trying to flee something or steal it, I reasoned as I noticed the front wheel blown out and all the rubber on the road behind him before I spotted the police cruisers.
Fortunately, I saw him approaching me quite rapidly. Who knows what would have happened if I hadn’t been paying as much attention.”
Both the woman and the male are from Queensland, and they are currently helping the police with their investigations.
